The logistics to get this exciting new event off the ground are already in place. The regulations of the Student Mountainbike Cross Country Cup 2017 will fall under UCI XCO rules. Various school hostels have been made available to students, so that accommodation is available if you are participating in the events. Each event will be complete with an after-party for the socialite, while podium finishers will receive medals and leader’s jerseys. Points will be allocated to the top cyclists in each category and each event, with the result that a student can be crowned Student Cup Event, or Series winner, or both.

Anatomic Sportswear event-organizing specialist, Attie Koekemoer, was delighted to confirm how following a number of meetings, actions were immediately in place to get this cycling series off the ground. “This is a massively exciting development in cycling amongst the body of students of South Africa.” said Koekemoer, ” it follows on the many years of presenting the Spur High School MTB League, which has grown and developed over its ten-year history.” Koekemoer went on to report that he had been approached by current students, who have graduated from the Spur High School MTB League, looking for cycling challenges for students. Using relationships which have been developed over many years, the first three events will go ahead.
