ISM's 2016 Saddle Range

While ISM’s distinct forked saddles have made their name in the triathlon market, they have a range to suit a variety of disciplines, including road and mountain biking.

The patented design claims to have zero contact with the delicate soft perenial tissue of both male and female riders, but instead provides a platform on which the sit bones (ischial tuberosities) can perch allowing the hips more vertical mobility, which ISM claim transfers more power to the pedals.

The manufacturer doesn’t list the weight of their saddle on the ISM website and we have heard that they are on the heavy side. We have yet to try one, but as soon as we do we’ll let you know what we think.

The 2016 range will be phased in, in South Africa from December 2015.

The PM 2.0 mountain biking saddle has a sloped rear for clearance on technical trails and the manufacturers claim it’s ideal for long-distance events, such as 24-hour racing. With long hours in the saddle, nobody wants to go numb.

The PL 1.0. is a new take on the Breakaway Saddle and fits into the Performance Long category.
All of the PL saddles are a full 270mm long, and allow for superb fore-aft rider movement. The rear measures 135mm wide – adding support for those that like to roll their hips back while climbing.

Like all ISM saddles, the PL 1.0 is nose-less and designed to remove pressure from soft tissue, ensuring maximum blood flow, no genital numbness, and a healthier, more enjoyable ride.
