GoPro – HERO4 Session

The HERO4 Session is GoPro’s latest offering. The super-compact device is 50% smaller and 40% lighter than other Hero4 models, weighing in at just 74 grams.

The Session captures pro-quality (widescreen HD) 1080p video at 60 frames per second(16:9)  and 1440p video at 30 frames per second. If you’re shooting some high speed downhill action, that you’d like to view in slow-mo later, switch to the 720p100. According to the manufacturer, “100 frames per second ensures that your slow motion playback remains liquid smooth.”

Waterproof for up to 10m without an additional housing the design of the Session also protects it from sand, dust and mud. There is a single button for start and stop recording and camera can be rotated within the included frames to face the opposite direction. The Session also comes with the new Ball Joint Buckle that allows you to adjust you’re the angle of the camera, by tilting or rotating the device within a range of 360 degrees.

If you accidentally mount the camera upside down, it’s not a problem as the auto image rotation kicks in negating the need for flipping your images or footage when editing.

The battery is built directly into the camera and reportedly offers up to two hours of recording time on a full charge (depending on settings and usage).

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be linked to the GoPro App to allow you to access modes and settings, view photos or playback videos or you can make use of the smart remote (sold separately).

There is also the SuperView option for a wide angle footage. The camera also offers 8 megapixel photo capture for stills, time lapse photos or burst (continuous high speed )photos.

Hero4 Session is compatiable with most GoPro mounts and comes with a curved and one flat adhesive mount for semi-permanet attachment to helmets (or surfboards) along with a mounting ball joint and mounting buckles to quickly connect or release the camera to or from its mount.
